INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS At our first meeting, we will talk about what you would like to address through poetry therapy. What are the issues in your life? Perhaps there are stumbling blocks where you would like more clarity. Maybe you are dealing with a loss of some kind. Possibly there are relationship issues that you want to look at. Poetry therapy is here to help you with whatever your personal concerns are. After we meet, I will custom design sessions, and choose poetry especially for you and your needs. I may also incorporate some simple exercises that use art, music, or meditation, depending on the session. Take a look at the workshops I offer to review some of the areas you may want to work on. Poetry therapy is unlike any other therapy you may have experienced. You will get to know yourself through creative methods designed to open you up in a whole new way. An important note Please be aware that poetry therapy is not a replacement for psychotherapy, if you are experiencing severe depression or any other mood disorders. Should this be the case, poetry therapy can work extremely well in conjunction with psychotherapy, but it is not a replacement for it, or for psychopharmacological help, if warranted. Should I discern that psychotherapy might be indicated, I will inform you. It is best to be clear about your expectations. As well, I hold to a code of ethics that advises me to provide you with the best care possible. Back to top |
