the poetry practice - writing your way to hope and healing
WISHING WORDS: ACTUALIZING DREAMS AND DESIRES

"And the day came when the risk it took
to remain tight inside the bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom"
—Anais Nin

Workshop description

You might be thinking along the lines of Langston Hughes when he wrote, "What happens to a dream deferred?" Or, you may be on to something more, as when Stanley Kunitz wrote, "What makes the engine go? Desire, desire, desire."

Take those forgotten dreams or burning desires and actualize them. You will read hopeful, motivating poetry and reflect on inspirational quotations. Through your own writing exercises, you will see what you need to do to move forward in your life and discover what your true purpose is. You will find your passions, name them and open up to fully creating a life that makes you feel alive. After all, if not now, when?
