the poetry practice - writing your way to hope and healing
TELL IT LIKE IT WAS: WRITING YOUR LIFE

"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time"
     —T.S. Elliot

Workshop description

This workshop is designed for those, ages 50 plus, who would like to engage in the process of looking back and reaching inward. This is not about living in the past, but looking at events in our lives that have held meaning for us, and discovering where they fit in with who we are today. What is your earliest memory? Who was your first love? Was there a person who played a significant role in your life? Who lived in your home when you were growing up? When did you first leave home? Who was your best friend in high school? The questions are as endless as people's unique responses to them. We'll do some simple free-flow writing exercises, and share the memories of our lives as we get to know each other and ourselves in a deep and richly rewarding way.
